2004. 1st Edition. Signed by Author. Rare and collectable.
The author traces his family history from the Clearances in the Isle of Skye, Scotland, in the 1700s, emigration to Canada in 1803, thence emigration of this family branch to Northland in 1858.
After a short time in Auckland and Omaha, then settling on land under Timber Mountain, Pukekaroro, the NZ family story started. The family eventually established farms at Pukekaroro, Fairburn and Mangawhai on land then bush covered. He follows each branch of the NZ family with old photos, portraits and family trees. Interwoven is the history of Northland itself, contact with local Maori, the kauri industry and farming.
