About

Every nation has her aviation heroes. The USA has Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart and Australia has Charles Kingsford-Smith. New Zealand also has its famous aviators, and these are Jean Batten and Clifford Tait.

Tait flew solo around the world from New Zealand to New Zealand in a very small single engine aircraft manufactured in New Zealand, a 115 horsepower Airtourer. He was aided by the international amateur 'ham' radio community. The flight was an enormous success for the pilot and it changed his life forever.

Includes information and photos from 2005 involving Cliff Tait buying back his old plane for MOTAT - a real piece of Kiwi aviation history.
