About

A history of colonization and its phases of contact with the Maori race.

The author was an early colonist who lived with Maori and attended a mixed Native School. Most of the anecdotes in this memoir relate to his experiences with Maori, or in the untamed native bush, including boar hunting, a Maori Wedding, and being lost in the bush.
